Call for Art : ‘All the Feels’ NOW CLOSED

Deadline for Entry: Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024 at noon (NOW CLOSED)

Art is a display of emotion; it’s a showcase of feelings brought out by the artist for it to have a physical manifestation.

The S.P.A.C.E. Gallery is seeking art that does just that! For this curated exhibition, we encourage artists to submit works that evoke many realms of emotions. Love and loss, confidence and fear, integrity, humor, isolation, longing and belonging… the light and dark sides of human existence.

All mediums, artistic styles, ages, and skill levels are encouraged to apply to this free call. Entry fee if work is accepted is $10-15 per artist.

Please fill out this form by January 23rd: CLICK HERE TO APPLY

Details: This is a juried and curated show. You will be notified if 1 or more of your pieces make the exhibition. You will also be notified should your work not be selected for this show. Free to submit up to 5 works. If any of your works are selected, there is an entry fee of $15 per artist, or $10 for member artists. Payment is due upon drop off in the form of cash or check. All work will need to be ready to hang securely on the wall or safely on a pedestal. All work chosen must include the artist name, title of the work and an email on the back of the piece.

‘All the Feels’
February 7 – 29, 2020

All the Feels features artwork that exudes emotion, feeling, and causes reactions! Whether in the creation process from the artist, in the content of the piece, or in the response from the viewer while taking in the work, we all want to feel something. Due to the massive snow storm at the opening reception, we invite you back to celebrate this extraordinary exhibition featuring work by 40 artists!

200 submissions came in for consideration for this exhibition, which conveys to us that emotions are running high! That artists are creating! That the process of creating artwork is cathartic. 40 artists were selected to display their works in one of our favorite themes. Each piece tells a nuanced story and we invite you to dive in, see you soon!

The word Cadence, has rich associations. In jazz, it signals rhythm, flow and inventive solos in the company of others. Each of the four artists in this show bring a distinct approach to their art, yet a common thread – literally – ties these diverse and lively pieces together. Their work reflects deep engagement with their materials – and delight in the surprises and elaborations that spring from them.

Enjoy and see you during First Friday Art Walk, the Artist Talk, or all month long Thursdays – Saturdays from 12-5pm!

November: ‘Note to Self’ An Installation by Christy Mitchell

‘Note to Self’

A Site Specific Conceptual Exhibition and Solo Show by Gallery Director, Christy Mitchell

November 2 – December 1, 2018
First Friday Art Walk: November 2, 5-10pm

‘Note to Self’ handwriting in astroturf by Christy Mitchell

‘Note to Self’ is a response to the call from a series of solo exhibitions by the artist, Christy Mitchell, that have taken place each year during the month of November at The Space Gallery in Burlington, Vermont, of which she also serves as the Director.

Mitchell’s site specific installations often integrate the memory of a past generation through the use of era based artifacts. She uses these symbols to communicate a way of living in relation to how she is feeling in the current moment.

‘Capable’ mixed media by Christy Mitchell

‘Note to Self’ feels as if you’ve walked into the artists home and noticed their notes on scrap paper or messages written in the condensation on shower doors that were never intended to be read by anyone but the author herself, though in fact the outside discovery was completely intentional.

‘fake it ’till you make it’ etched handwriting in glass, shadow on wall by Christy Mitchell

Immerse yourself while walking along the astroturf covered floors through a dreamlike installation…into the artists’ musings on what is real, what have we been faking along the way, and how do we really feel about it all now?

Visit ‘Note to Self’ at The Space Gallery any Thursday -Saturday from 12-5pm through December 1st, 2018.

The Space Gallery is built on ideals of being accessible; to artists
and viewers alike. For us, this means that you may show your artwork regardless of your age, medium, and experience in the arts. Everyone needs a first gallery exhibition and we have seen artists go on to New York City, Chicago, or stay right here in Vermont, fulfilling their dreams of becoming a full time artist and making a living at it. For all of May, Space Gallery Members showcase pieces of artwork that they are proud of, is new for them, or best exemplifies their specific style. This also serves as a pre-view of the artists work that we will be showing throughout the coming year.

For the viewer; accessibility to us means that someone may visit the
gallery who may not have been in a formal exhibition setting before
and ask any question and feel comfortable doing so. Artists may walk in as well with questions about how to show or price work, and receive advice or critiques on their portfolio. We take pride in showing artwork and will always do so professionally.

Anyone, anywhere may become a member of The Space Gallery. We look forward to working with you, and as always…..
Thank you for your support!
