Frog Boy, by Catherine Hall

Catherine Hall has been making plaster and wax faces cast from distorted latex molds for over a decade, using recycled flea-market dolls and animals. She has incorporated the doll’s bodies into small figures, and made small encaustic paintings of doll’s and children’s faces. Hall wants the works to embody all of the emotions evoked by our childhood memories, you will see a wide range of this work throughout the month at The S.P.A.C.E. Gallery.

Dead Men Tell No Tales
work by Adam DeVarney
July 1 – August 5
Opening Reception: First Friday Art Walk July 1, 5-9 pm
Closing Reception: First Friday Art Walk August 5, 5-9 pm

Dead Men Tell No Tales, by Adam DeVarney

Adam DeVarney delves into the heart and soul of fighter pilots past, and lost voyages of space and time. Vagabonds of the great beyond, these haunting characters search for love, lust, and revenge. This series portrays a collection of weary and weathered ghosts of aviation. DeVarney’s paintings combine drawings and acrylic wash with found image and other paper media on wood panel. His work is potent with disparate content, that when juxtaposed, begin to create a dream-like history. The work raises questions of purpose and direction while touching on emotions of inner strength and human resolve.
