Stuck, Devotion – Desire – Destruction
Mary Admasian & Wylie Sofia Garcia, featuring Monica Callan & Sam Talbot-Kelly
September 10th – 25th
Opening Reception: Friday, September 10th, 5pm
The Backspace is pleased to welcome the installations and 2-D work of Mary Admasian and Wylie Sofia Garcia in the exhibit ‘Stuck’.
Mary Admasian birthed the exhibit from her current artistic series called “Pins and Needles“, these two dimensional constructions are rooted in the context of the veneer of how women conceptually portray themselves on the surface though elegance, beauty and mystery.
Wylie Sofia Garcia‘s “Golden Prick” series are two dimensional embroideries and drawings that delve into the artist’s personal obsession and devotion to the sewing needle.
Included in the show is a piece called “Cremation” designed by Eco Fashion artist, Sam Talbot-Kelly.
Saturday, Sept. 11th at the Backspace
Performance artist, Monica Callan, will perform a portion of her one woman play, “Freedom 101 (working title)”.
